I you are anything like me, you need a little pick me up from time to time. I have found that podcasts and youtube are my best way to learn new things and stay motivated to keep striving. They are easy to consume as I go through my day. I listen to/watch them as I exercise, when I take walks during my break time, in the car, in the shower, and while I work.
I thought I’d share some of my favorite modes of motivation as a little gift from me to you! Enjoy!
#1 – #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso
If you haven’t heard of Sophia Amoruso, then you should. Sophia is cool, funny, quirky and one major BOSSLADY! Having started her own Ebay vintage clothes company at the age of 22, Sophia’s wit and determination helped her grow into an international multi-million dollar company named Nasty Gal. Sophia prides herself on being open and honest about the good, the bad, the ugly, and even the ummm…. unmentionables. (Just listen to one episode and you’ll know what I mean!)
The Girlboss Podcast consists of Sophia interview top women in business from companies all over the world and provides me some serious motivation of possibilities. There are so many awesome women doing AWESOME things and this podcast is the perfect way to highlight them and motivate you.
***Precaution: Sophia and guests tend to use language that I don’t approve of as a Christian. If you choose to listen, please prepare you ears for language that can be offensive at times.
#2 Business Boutique by Christy Wright
The Business Boutique podcast is a fairly new podcast by Dave Ramsey business specialists Christy Wright. I LOVE this podcast because Christy gives great business advice but always with a Christian perspective. You don’t know how much good this does my God-fearing heart. Finally a business influencer that focuses on what and who matters!
As a part of the Dave Ramsey family, you can always count on great tips to keep your business in good financial shape which is an added bonus. I recently attended the Business Boutique conference and got to meet Christy personally. I can say it was one of the best experiences of my life. Definitely don’t sleep on this one!
StartUp is a podcast documenting the growth journey of media company Gimlet Media. It allows you to be a listening ear to the play-by-play of what it has taken to get to the point where they currently are as a business.
My favorite thing about Startup is the candidness that host Alex Blumberg exhibits in each episode. He’s super vulnerable which makes him really relateable. As entrepreneurs, we you already know that there are highs, lows, and the inevitable palm-to-your-forehead “Why did I just do that” moment.
It’s just fun to listen and realize that you are not alone in the entrepreneurial journey which can be so encouraging. It’s definitely worth listening to!
#4 The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes
If you haven’t heard of Lewis Howes, you really need to get to know him. He’s an inspiration with an awesome story of how he came to the point he’s at today. In his podcast, “The School of Greatness”, Lewis interviews some of the top names in various industries and basically asks them how they’ve achieved the level of greatness they are at today.
His interviews are always interesting and inspiring because you never know who he’s going to interview next. I love how he chooses such a wide variety. From Julianne Hough to Eric “ET” Thomas, Howes has interviewed them all and I’ve loved every episode.
#5 Hillsong United – Christian Praise Music Group
Okay, so this isn’t a motivational podcasts, but they inspire me almost daily. Their lyrics alone are enough motivation to keep me going, but their sound literally soothes my soul.
Vocalist,Taya Smith’s, voice is like none I’ve ever heard. She always calms my spirit when I’m feeling anxious. They also have a movie that was just released documenting the journey of their massive growth.
If you haven’t listened to their music, I HIGHLY recommend you find what you’re missing out on. Songs like Captain, Oceans, and will get you through any tough moment. Check em out!
So there you have it! My top 5 motivational media choices that help keep me going. Check em out and let me know what you think!
